A little bit about me...
I have always been passionate about nutrition and fitness. With a strong family history of heart disease and diabetes, I decided many years ago to eat as healthfully as possible and use both food and exercise as a preventative medicine to help avoid these diseases.
I am certified through the Canadian Association of Fitness Professionals as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. I absolutely love working with people and helping them. It's a wonderful experience coaching them on a regular basis and watching them improve over time as they work towards achieving their goals.
I've taught a variety of fitness classes and find that not only do I leave the class feeling energized, but so do the participants. I've had lots of excellent feedback from my participants.
In the spring of 2009, I decided to sign up for the Weekend to End Women's Cancers - which is a 60km walk in Toronto, over the course of a weekend. I raised over $2500 dollars for the Princess Margaret Hospital, and had so much fun I decided to do it again in 2010! I truly loved it. I gained a real appreciation for long-distance walkers, and learned a lot from my multiple training walks. I walked the 60k again in 2010 - this time with no blisters at all.
Another passion of mine is running. Over the last couple of years I started running, gradually, and ran my first 5k race in October. I had also signed up for a half-marathon and trained all summer long for it. In October 2010, I ran on behalf of the Eat Clean Diet Team (Tosca Reno's Team) for Team Diabetes. I taught a Walk to Run Program in August and raised $350 for Team Diabetes in order to participate. It was just a fantastic experience. Wow!!! I'm hooked. I'm signed up for another half marathon in May of 2011. Having a goal race is a great motivator for me.
I love living in Atwood with my husband and three children. We are surrounded by nature and are lucky to live in a safe and friendly community that values family. My hobbies include reading, walking, running, gardening, travelling and volunteering, among many others!
