Almost the End of August?? Whoa!! 08/18/2010
Hi Everyone! I hope you're all enjoying this amazing weather! The humidity is gone (for now!) and today we have sunshine and the perfect day. I'm finally finished my fundraising for the Weekend to End Women's Cancers and my Half Marathon. Thanks so much to my new Walk to Run Group for participating and helping me reach my goals! Speaking of my new Walk to Run Group, what an inspirational group of women! Running with a group is very motivating. And, what could be better than sharing stories with a bunch of great ladies as we walk back for our cooldown?? My family and I had a fantastic time in Florida! But, all good things come to an end. Three weeks into our trip, we found out we had a sewer backup at home! Yuck, right?? Yep. Luckily, we were able to contact a restoration company and have them come out to the house and get started with the cleanup before we got home. Our basement is currently ripped apart! Then, a week or so later, we get a call that our freezer somehow was accidentally unplugged. Yikes! A freezer full of spoiled meat. At least our freezer was plugged back in by the time we got home, so there was no smell. Such a waste of good food though! The first morning back, we opened our cereal drawer to discover we had visitors while we were away!! Mice in the kitchen. Now, I don't hate mice - I just hate how they have to leave poo everywhere. If they just didn't poo everywhere, I think I'd be okay with them! Anyways, a lot of time was spent disinfecting and emptying drawers and cupboards - what a big job! Thankfully, my hunter/gatherer husband was able to get rid of the little rodents. And, with all the rain that fell while we were gone, we had waist-high weeds in the gardens. So, things have been a little hectic, to say the least, since we got home. The absolute worst news though, was that my mother's back problem had escalated to the point of her being admitted to the hospital, and that's where she has been for the last 9 days now. Today they transferred her to another hospital where they specialize in rehabilitation, so at least that's some good news. Positive thoughts for my Mom everyone!! Mom, please get better soon! With all of this going on at home, my long runs that I need to train for my Half-Marathon are suffering! Really, really suffering!!! Friday is supposed to be gorgeous. So, I think my plan is going to be to run 7k before my running group at 6.30pm. Wish me luck with this! I have to admit that not only are the long runs suffering, but so is my housework. Good Lord!! Where is all this laundry coming from?? I still have some stuff to unpack from my trip, and I've been back for two weeks now! And, the house is a disaster. I think my plans for the weekend are pretty much sealed. It will be a great feeling to just get it all done though and feel the satisfaction of a neat, clean house after this crazy last two weeks. Order is very calming! Okay, enough about bad news...Now for the good news, no, let's say AMAZING news! Plans are in the works for a September Bootcamp, and maybe an October one too! I'll keep you all up-to-date once I have all the juicy details. If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Comment on this blog, or email me with your suggestions - I'd love to hear what you have to say! Bye for now, Dawn :) Add Comment | DawnSharing information to help you improve your lifestyle.
